There’s a term called mood whiplash. It’s a phenomenon when you’re having this perfectly happy humorous episode and then wham! Train wreck. Though this episode is really happy fun times sandwiched in between angst.
Tara and Willow fight. Tara threatens to leave if Willow can’t stop using magic to fix every little thing. Willow promises to go one week. Willow goes exactly not even one day before attempting to use magic to fix both Tara and Buffy.
Hilarity ensues. I love everybody running around, not quite knowing what’s going on. I love all the assumptions that they make about themselves and each other. I love all of it.
And then the clock strikes twelve and that carriage turns back into a pumpkin.
- I love the loan shark joke.
- "I’m Willow Rosenberg. Willow…weird name."
- "I feel compelled to take some vengeance on you."
- The montage at the end of the episode set to Michelle Branch singing “Goodbye to You” is literally heartbreaking. I’m going to be an emotional wreck for the rest of the night. I used to like that song too…damn it Joss.
Since the next two episodes are Smashed and Wrecked and tomorrow’s Christmas and mistressofthelearningplateau works late tomorrow night we will be taking the day off (also I need to recover a bit). We will be back Thursday.
